When it comes to offshore trolling you have a choice of outfits 8, 10, 15, 24, 37 and 60kg tackle. For the lighter tackle most anglers use stand up gear while for heavier gear most anglers require a fighting chair and employ bent butt rods for more lift.
All the rods are short from 5’6 to 6’2. The reels are all lever drag with specialised drag systems able to handle immense drag for hours on end.
Nearly all serious anglers use mono line that is IGFA rated, but often back spool
it with braid or dacron. At the business end heavy duty nylon leaders ranging from just 60 pounds right through to several hundred pounds are employed to stop the fish wearing through the line.
Terminal tackle must also be considered heavy duty swivels, crimps, hooks, lures as well a pliers, knives harnesses etc are also important.
