Attract small black marlin

Question

Our fishing grounds typically attract numbers of small black marlin and sail fish. The bait in these areas are pilchards and yakka.

  1.  Would the Scent Blazer be good in this situation?
  2.     Do the Scent Blazer attract a lot of other species with teeth that may become a pest through the day especially in a tournament?

Answer

I kind of need to know the average size of the target fish, so that I have an idea what size lures you need. But yes I think the Scentblazer Lures are the best on the market for these fish. It is the only lure I run on my boat. The head styles I like are the bullet heads and the slant heads for Marlin and Sails. I have caught both Marlin and Sails on all styles of Scent Blazer heads but these are my favorite. As far as colors I would try to match the bait fish to the color selection. For the Yakka I think that the Yellow Scad or the Sardine, but my favorite is the Purple Frigate. Colors for the Pilchard I think that the Skipjack Tuna, the Sardine, the Evil, Pink Mackerel and the Green Mackerel would be great. As far as the pesty fish, I dont usually have any problems but that might change depending on what waters you are fishing.
